My name is Henrik and I am an artist.
     
I am 34 years old and based in Turku, a relatively small town in the south of Finland.
    
I work with painting, photography, film and design, together with my wife KIA KARLBERG.
    
I am partly disabled and have chronic health issues that affect my ability to work, but I have a good heart.

MY PAINTINGS

I create about 100 paintings per year. I started painting inspired by my great-great uncle Victor Westerholm, who was Finlands first impressionist and a prominent landscape painter. He was also the first director of the Turku Art Museum for over 28 years and a major influence on all art in my hometown Turku. 

I am currently working on a body of work for a gallery show.


MY PHOTOGRAPHY

I photograph what I love, all my work is self-assigned. My style is edgy, provocative and at the same time genuine, classic and timeless. I like to do things that people in Finland haven't seen before. I rarely do commercial or editorial work anymore. I only do around 15-20 photoshoots per year.

Although I am an amateur I have been very fortunate to work with the most fabulous models and celebrities. I would like to express my gratitude to all of you who have worked with me and towards those who continuosly help and support my career.

I am AGENCY APPROVED. Very limited tests/TFP for personal art projects only. I may shoot one look for your portfolio in exchange for one for mine. I do not do free fashion/beauty tests.

Julia Johansen | Fondi / Elite
     
Julia had a few very slow first years in her agency. Fondi Agency Director Eeva Ketola felt Julia could do better and sent her to do two tests with us. Kia and I did a new portfolio for her. Thanks to our pictures she was signed with IMG Paris and Elite Milano and her topmodel career started. She has since worked with Chanel, Armani, Mulberry etc. and she was photographed by Mario Testino for Vogue magazine.
    
     
     

Henna Lintukangas | Modelboom / Ford
     
I made one of the first photoshoots with Henna, another topmodel in the making. Modelboom Agency Director Jaana Ukkola was very excited and the pictures started Hennas international career. Henna is now signed with Ford in Paris and NY. The editorials keep rolling in and she walked 13 shows in Paris S/S 2012 and 13 shows in F/W 2012, among others Victor & Rolf, Givenchy, Rick Owens and Maison Martin Margiela.

Sabina had already worked as a model for some years when I photographed her. I felt she had a lot more potential than her existing portfolio showed at that time. I made a challenging photoshoot, bringing out the hotness and attitude in the girl. It worked, she signed with IMG Paris and is now one of the hottest models in Finland.
     
     
    

Mads Broberg | Scoop Models Copenhagen
     
I dont normally shoot guys but Scoop Models Agency Director Bente Lundquist who finds some of the best male models in the world persuaded me to shoot with her new face Mads. It was a successful test and Mads got the start he needed. He has done loads of editorials, shows for Missoni, Iceberg and Etro, and the Iceberg S/S 11 campaign shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.

COMMERCIAL WORK
    
One of the commercial projects Kia and I are very proud of is the artistic ad for Altia Ballet. Altia is the leading wine and spirits company in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The campaign was published in all the Finnish magazines.
   

The Ballet ad in the prime places of Helsinki and on the wall of Kamppi Center, one of the largest shopping centers and the most important transportation terminal in Finland, located in Downtown Helsinki. Approximately 200.000 people visit Kamppi each day.

PORTRAITS / DOCUMENTARY

My assignments have also included documentary and portrait photography of popstars, royals, and current & former top politicians (Prime Ministers, First Ladies, Members of Governments and the European Parliament etc).

Kia and I have also arranged the prestigious Ford Models Supermodel of the world contest in Finland.

MY WORKSPACE

My physical mobility is very limited and that is why I now work exclusively from my home in Turku, Finland. My home is my atelier and it is a very beautiful and peaceful place; a contemporary house with a classic garden and natural surroundings.

I prefer to work in natural light but I also have a full photographic studio.
